Bill Baggs Cape Lighthouse, Miami
Located inside Bill Baggs State Park was completed in 1825. It was damaged during the 2nd Seminole War. The repaired lighthouse was completed in 1846. The island was used by runaway slaves and Black Seminoles as a secret meeting place while waiting for ships to escape to the British Bahamas. In 2004 it was placed on the National Underground Network to Freedom site. It still remains the oldest standing structure in Miami.
